An Aurora Makeover

Last month we were tasked to transform a mock up cab for EMR’s latest Class 810 fleet. The electro-diesel inter-city trains are due to launch 2023 and our creative challenge was to quickly turn around the artworking, production and installation of conformable vehicle graphics for the ASLEF engagement session.

The project required meticulous planning at lightning speeds. Working in collaboration with EMR, we conducted a site survey and created a schematic plan for our studio team to work to when artworking the design – which is based on the northern lights, or aurora borealis. Due to the turnaround this needed to happen whilst concurrently liaising with the production team for colour matching and test printing, all within a matter of a few days from start to finish.

This highly time sensitive project was great to be part of and we successfully hit our deadline, with a high quality installation at Derby Etches Park. We were also able to complete all aspects of the project with COVID-19 safety measures in place.
